Block Therapy side-lying practice at home

What is Block Therapy?

Block Therapy is a therapeutic practice that uses a handcrafted wooden block, combined with diaphragmatic breathing, to release deep fascial restrictions in the body.

Unlike foam or plastic tools, the wooden block shares a similar density to bone, allowing it to work more effectively with gravity and body weight to reach the deeper layers of tissue.

You’ll lie on the block in specific positions—each held for a minimum of three minutes. This creates a slow, sustained pressure that draws increased blood and oxygen into the area, warming the connective tissue and gently “melting” adhesions that limit mobility and cause pain.

You’ll also learn how to use diaphragmatic breathing to increase oxygen intake—up to 600% more—which enhances cellular repair and supports the body’s natural healing process.

FAQ's

  • Which block should I choose?
Block Therapy blocks shown for size comparison

The Block Buddy is the standard block and works well for most body types. Its size and shape support larger surface areas and are generally most comfortable for individuals over 5 feet tall.

The Block Baby is a smaller version of the Block Buddy. It’s designed to fit into tighter or more compressed areas where the larger block may feel overwhelming. It’s often more comfortable for individuals under 5 feet tall or for areas that need more precision.

Not sure what block to get? Consider

    getting both.

Having both blocks allows for greater versatility in your Block Therapy practice.

Many people use both blocks together in certain positions (often called “double blocking”) to adjust support, depth, and comfort depending on the area of the body. Having both options makes it easier to work with different body regions and adapt as your practice evolves over time.
