Vibroacoustic Therapy
Sound you can feel.
Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT) uses low-frequency sound converted into gentle vibration through transducers beneath the massage table. Those vibrations travel through the table and into your body, creating an immersive sensory experience.
At The Traveling Sole in East Wenatchee, enjoy VAT on its own or combined with select massage and bodywork services.

During The Vibroacoustic Experience, you remain fully clothed and settle onto the table with supportive positioning.
A blanket, weighted blanket, neck pillow, eye covering, noise-canceling headphones, and table heat are available. I personally recommend the full setup for an elevated, more immersive experience, but you choose what makes you feel most comfortable and settled.
Your 45-minute appointment includes a brief check-in, time to get comfortable, a 23–30-minute Pure Tone program, and time to reorient afterward.
You may feel gentle vibrations moving through your body, more noticeable in some areas than others. There’s nothing you need to perform or achieve—simply settle in and notice how it feels for you.
Why Your Nervous System Needs Time to Recover
When life keeps asking more of you, it can become difficult to feel settled—even when you finally have time to rest.
Your autonomic nervous system helps regulate automatic functions such as heart rate, breathing, and digestion. Its sympathetic branch helps mobilize you for action, including the familiar “fight-or-flight” response. Its parasympathetic branch supports functions associated with rest and digestion. Both have essential roles.
During stress, your heart rate and breathing may increase, and your muscles may tense. This response is useful when you need to meet a challenge. Persistent stress, however, can contribute to or worsen sleep difficulties, digestive problems, headaches, and other symptoms. Learn more about stress and the body.
Healthy regulation means being able to respond when needed and settle when the demand has passed. Making room for recovery is part of supporting that balance.
Relaxation Is a Physical Response
Relaxation involves measurable changes in the body, including slower breathing, a slower heart rate, and reduced blood pressure.
Creating opportunities to unwind has value beyond enjoying a quiet moment. These are general features of the relaxation response, rather than guaranteed outcomes from a particular appointment. Read about the relaxation response.
Potential Benefits & Who It’s For
VAT may support:

It may be a good fit when you feel overwhelmed, have difficulty slowing down, or want a touch-free approach to comfort. If you are sensitive to sound or vibration, we’ll discuss your preferences and whether VAT is appropriate for you.

View Services & BookFrequently Asked Questions
Is VAT the same as listening to music?
VAT delivers low-frequency sound as physical vibration through the table. At The Traveling Sole, a selected Pure Tone program provides that vibration. Music may accompany the experience separately, so what you hear and what you feel do not have to be the same sound.
What should I wear?
For a standalone appointment, wear comfortable clothing that allows you to rest easily on the table. You remain fully clothed throughout the experience.
Do I have to use the weighted blanket or headphones?
No. The blanket, weighted blanket, neck pillow, headphones, eye covering, and table heat are all optional. I personally recommend the full setup for an elevated, more immersive experience, but you choose the options that make you feel most comfortable and settled.
What if the vibration feels uncomfortable?
This is intended to be a relaxing experience. If the vibration feels too strong or something about your positioning, sound, or temperature is uncomfortable, please let me know so we can make adjustments.
Please don’t hesitate to speak up about anything you’re experiencing, including emotions that arise. You can ask to pause or stop at any time. This time is for your benefit—you never need to push through discomfort to complete the program.
How many appointments will I need?
There is no single schedule that fits everyone. Frequency depends on your goals, preferences, and how you respond. We can discuss future appointments after you’ve experienced VAT.
Is VAT appropriate for everyone?
Your health history matters. Please complete your intake and consent forms before your appointment and share any changes in your health, medications, or sensitivities. Some circumstances may require modifications, postponement, or medical clearance.
